Explore LUVANE’s work, style and drawing process

Event promotion
Over the past years, LUVANE created more than 200 illustrations for the promotion of public lectures and discussions organized by the University of Twente and for conference sessions at the University of Cambridge. The illustrations and additional artwork addressed topics ranging from politics and society, to science, culture and sports.

Covers & Cartoons
For more than seven years, LUVANE’s cartoons were published in the University of Twente’s independent newspaper. Next to that, LUVANE designed and illustrated magazine covers and provided illustrations for news articles in local and regional newspapers in the Netherlands. For scientists, LUVANE created grant proposal illustrations, thesis covers, and illustrated posters.

Keeping it real in the age of Artificial Intelligence
Why do we need a cartoonist when Artificial Intelligence can generate illustrations and other graphic work?
If the thinking in the process of creating an illustration is largely done by AI, we have to wonder who is actually communicating. A human being, or a machine? We can choose to send out generic, ill-considered content, or share messages that are representative and crafted with care. If it’s up to LUVANE, we keep communication — and with it illustration — real.
